Basic Info
Name:The Crimson Syringe Award
Bio
This journal is designed to serve as a home for [info]1351's Crimson Syringe Awards for LiveJournal Excellence.

The URLs of award-winning posts will be announced here, so add it to your friends list if you're interested in such things.

I don't imagine that this whole award business will actually catch on but, in the words of my epitaph, it seemed like a good idea at the time.

It should be noted that, as the awards are based on [info]1351's tastes, there is some chance that many of them will not be suitable for the faint of heart.

I repeat:

***THIS JOURNAL, THE AWARDS IT GIVES, AND THE WINNING POSTS MAY OFTEN INVOLVE ADULT CONTENT, IN AN INTELLECTUAL CONTEXT, IF NOT A PORNOGRAPHIC ONE. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS, PLEASE GO AWAY. THANK YOU.***

And yes, I know the award graphic is a tad gory. However, I've been reliably informed that it qualifies as Art, so that's alright.
If you want to avoid seeing it, don't scroll to the bottom of this bio.

About the award:
The Crimson Syringe Awards go to original posts which particularly impress me, be they articles, fiction, poetry, graphical artwork, more conventional entries, or whatever. Anything I really like.
I feel that it would also be fairly sensible for me not to make too regular a habit of handing awards out to the same person(s) over and over again, and there are probably some posts which, however much they might move me, would probably be a bit personal for this kind of public plugging to be anything other than tactless.
In addition, I am seriously considering not awarding it to posts that can't be commented on (as an award is a kind of comment, I suppose), and to friends-only posts (although this rules out a lot of material, making a regular practice of giving public awards designed to draw attention to the quality of a particular post seems rather futile if most people won't be able to read the post, although the occasional exception might be made on this one).

How can I get me one of these things?
Contact me or add [info]1351 to your friends list and I'll take note of this and attempt to make a practice of reading your journal.
If you write something that really impresses me, you might get one.
Or you might not.
It's all based on the petty whims of a single power-crazed individual. Sorry.

How can I make sure I don't get one of these things?
Particularly applies to people with whom I'm already aquainted. The easiest way is just to email me or comment somewhere appropriate in either this or [info]1351's journal.
Of course, you could always make a point of writing crap entries, but that seems a bit extreme.

Hey! Now I've won this thing, what should I do with it?
The winner, should they want to, can to put the award graphic in their bio, harp on about it in their journal, stick it up their arse, or indeed de-friend me and try to pretend that I never happened to them.

Hey! Now I've won this thing, how the hell do I get rid of it?
Address complaints to me and I'll remove all references to you, delete any relevant posts or comments, and try to make sure I never bother you again.

I find your graphic/concept/personality offensive.
Well, the best thing I can suggest is to avoid all of the above, and ask me to make sure I don't force them on you.
I'm aware that this isn't the sort of thing that everyone would appreciate, and do not intend to thrust it upon anyone who might find it distasteful, not least of all because I suspect that such things probably count as harassment as far as the LJ authorities are concerned.
I might be offensive, but rest assured that it's a virtual certainty that my primary raison d'etre is not to specially and personally offend you, whoever the fuck you are.
Complain, and I'll leave you alone.

Why do you keep switching between first and third person descriptions of yourself?
To irritate, mostly.

Isn't this whole thing rather futile, self-serving, and at some risk of turning into a popularity contest?
Probably. Should I care?

I guess not.
Good. Now, if it wouldn't be TOO much trouble, could you please get back to asking the questions the public ought to know the answers to?

I want to see the award graphics!

OR

How can I use these graphic things?
If you want post the award graphic somewhere, or anywhere else, you could do worse than making use of the following bits of HTML.
(I really hope these work...)
